Over the past few years we’ve enjoyed a fantastic working relationship with Microsoft and many of its clients. Globally we’ve been helping many of them embrace Windows 7 and through the relationships we’ve built, we’ve also introduced the majority to the concept of people-centric computing and user virtualization with great success.
As such, we’re delighted to share the news that we’ve been named as the sole Microsoft Desktop Enablement Partner for User Personalization Solutions in the UK. Under this, first of its kind, agreement, We will work with Microsoft’s customers to optimize their desktop environments, with a focus on the user, to enable the migration or deployment of Windows 7, and beyond, faster and more efficiently than ever before.
The Microsoft Desktop Enablement Partner programme will see Microsoft actively endorse proven and trusted third party software vendors, such as AppSense, to help guide its customer base through the Windows 7 migration process, and beyond. To do this, Microsoft will work closely with customers and will provide recommendation of vendors to aid/optimize the migration.
From our perspective helping people and companies to make a smooth transition to Microsoft 7 and beyond will be increasingly important over the next few months, especially as XP is nearing end of life. The migration from one operating system to another, with the right technology behind it, will also help many of Microsoft’s customers embrace a BYOD policy and will enable them to adopt flexible working policies.
Using the AppSense User Virtualization Platform (UVP), we will further enable Microsoft’s customers to detach users and applications from the operating system environment so that any migration can be completed without any disruption in a mass, or staged deployment. Our technology will also help them to reduce their login times, enable improved user rights control, replace legacy login scripts with scalable, centrally managed and easily supported options and help IT departments to migrate key settings between different versions of Microsoft Office.
In addition, the new partnership will help us to add a layer of security and intelligence to many customer devices, as the AppSense UVP, in combination with other AppSense solutions such as AppSense DataNow, offer enterprises a number of ways to embrace consumerization and can help support the growing enterprise mobile workforce.
Ultimately, Microsoft’s customers that engage AppSense benefit from the company’s experience in the areas of delivering effective BYOX and flexible working solutions and we’re looking forward to helping them usher in a new age of flexibility and agility!
